From 15 November 2022 – 15 February 2023, the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child is inviting young people ages 17 and under to participate in a consultation to share their views on the draft of General Comment No. 26 – official UN guidance on what governments must do to protect children’s rights impacted by the environmental crisis.
Given your interest in climate justice and environmental rights, I believe you would be a great person to participate in the consultation! You can participate and find out more details here.
I invite you to give other young people the same opportunity to participate by spreading the word far and wide through your networks or hosting a workshop. The more voices that can be included in the General Comment, the better! You can use this workshop toolkit, outreach message and social media pack.

Invitation: Share your views on draft UN guidance on children’s environmental rights
From 15 November 2022 – 15 February 2023, the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child is inviting young people ages 17 and under to participate in a consultation to share their views on the draft of General Comment No. 26 – official UN guidance on what governments must do to uphold children’s rights impacted by the environmental crisis. The draft was developed from contributions of 7,416 children from 103 countries.
We encourage you to participate or support children and young people’s participation in the consultation by spreading the word far and wide or hosting a workshop using this workshop toolkit, outreach message and social media pack.
The more voices that can be included in the General Comment, the better. Let’s unite for children’s rights to build a clean, green, healthy and sustainable world together!
